Qantas’ flagship Airbus A380 superjumbo has soared back into Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) after a five-year hiatus, heralding the revival of one of the world’s longest nonstop passenger flights. The much-anticipated resumption links Sydney, Australia, with the heart of Texas on what DFW officials hail as the “world’s second longest nonstop A380 route by distance and time.”
Excitement was palpable on August 11, 2025, as Qantas flight QF7 made its historic touchdown at DFW at 13:32 local time, having traversed more than 8,500 miles (13,679 kilometers) and 17 hours in the air. Ash Howell, Executive Vice President at Qantas, underscored the significance of the occasion, stating, “Today was a special moment as our Qantas A380 touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) for the first time since 2020.
Its return marks another important milestone in the growth of our international network and comes at the perfect time ahead of the peak southern summer travel period.”
For DFW, this is more than a simple route relaunch—it's a testament to the airport’s growing stature as a global aviation hub and a nod to the evolving patterns of international travel. With the A380 now back in action, Qantas is set to capitalize on surging demand, opening the door for travelers to enjoy unparalleled comfort and connectivity between Australia and the United States.
