Saudi low-cost carrier flynas has announced plans to receive over 100 Airbus aircraft within the next five years, marking a significant expansion of its fleet. This move is part of a broader deal for 280 Airbus jets, valued at more than 161 billion Saudi riyals, solidifying flynas' position as the largest owner of single-aisle aircraft orders in the Middle East.
By 2030, flynas aims to operate more than 160 aircraft, aligning with the National Civil Aviation Strategy to connect Saudi Arabia with 250 international destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and host 150 million tourists annually.
The announcement coincided with a visit from Airbus senior management to flynas' headquarters in Riyadh, highlighting the strong partnership between the two companies and their commitment to achieving national aviation goals.
The expansion is part of flynas' strategic growth plan, launched under the slogan "We connect the world to the Kingdom," which also supports the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) by facilitating access to the Two Holy Mosques.
Recently, flynas received a new Airbus A320neo aircraft, increasing its total A320neo fleet to 54 planes. This significant investment underscores flynas' ambition to become a leading player in the regional aviation sector, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's objectives to transform the aviation industry.
The visit by Airbus senior management to flynas' headquarters in Riyadh underscored the importance of their long-term partnership, which began at flynas' inception and was strengthened in 2016 with an initial order for 120 aircraft.
The partnership reached a new level in 2024 with an agreement to purchase 160 additional Airbus aircraft, including both A320 and A330 models. This substantial order book positions flynas as one of the largest aircraft purchasers in the region, setting the stage for its continued growth and dominance in the Middle East aviation market.
