In a groundbreaking move, Etihad Airways has announced the launch of a new daily nonstop service connecting its hub in Abu Dhabi to the bustling Canadian city of Toronto. The centerpiece of this new route will be the airline's iconic Airbus A380 superjumbo jet, which Etihad has affectionately dubbed the "Eh! 380".
"We are thrilled to be expanding our global network with this new service to Toronto," said Tony Douglas, CEO of Etihad Airways. "Canada has long been a key market for us, and we are confident that the A380's unparalleled comfort and amenities will be a hit with Canadian travelers."
The Eh! 380 will offer first class suites, business class apartments, and economy class seating for up to 496 passengers. Unique features of the aircraft include a sky-high lounge, onboard showers, and a maple leaf-themed décor throughout the cabin - a nod to Canada's national symbol.
"Etihad's decision to deploy their flagship aircraft on the Abu Dhabi-Toronto route is a huge vote of confidence in our city," remarked Toronto Mayor John Tory. "We look forward to welcoming Etihad's passengers and providing them with a truly Canadian experience."
Ticket sales for the new service are set to begin later this month, with the inaugural flight scheduled for June 1, 2025. Industry analysts predict the route will be a major success, capitalizing on growing demand for travel between the UAE and Canada.
With the launch of the Eh! 380, Etihad aims to elevate the travel experience for passengers while strengthening its presence in the North American market. This latest development solidifies the airline's commitment to innovation and delivering world-class service to its customers.
